Becket Flower Group
Our main duty is to ensure there is a fresh pedestal arrangement in church all year except for Lent and Advent. We do this by publishing a rota, which includes ourselves and volunteers from the congregation who are responsible for a two week period once a year.
If required, we can liaise with brides to ensure the pedestal flowers match their wedding colours. We ask for a donation for this service as it may involve some quick changes between weddings and extra flowers. We are unable to take responsibility for any other flowers required for weddings and ask brides to arrange this via their own florist.
At Easter, Harvest and Xmas we call on our volunteers again to help decorate the church for the celebrations.

The highlight of our year is Flower Festival on the second weekend in June, which has been running since 1969. We have had some very interesting titles over the years, including Men of the Bible, Women of Influence, Going Green, A Walk through the Bible, The Church Year and many more. It is a huge undertaking and all our usual arrangers are required plus additional members of the wider community and other churches. A very busy but convivial two days are spent putting it all together in time for opening on the Friday morning.
The Festival Café serves refreshments on all three days so that visitors can sit down and have a chat. All money raised through visitor donations and café sales is for the Church. We pay for the flowers and accessories via our Flower Group fundraising events, donations, and from sponsorship by local businesses.
